A gala concert with the participation of two splendid singers Hibla Gerzmava and Polina Sharovarova is a genuine gift for opera buffs. They will perform with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia directed by maestro Vladimir Spivakov, not simply a conductor but the undeniable leader who creates the space of great opera culture where there meet acclaimed opera singers and new bright names.
The concert program will unite gems of Italian opera, that is the music where virtuosity, drama and melodic beauty reach their apex. A sparkling score by Rossini, an inspired cantilena by Bellini, grandeur and expressiveness by Verdi and Puccini – such a repertoire demands not only vocal brilliance, dramatic mastery and internal freedom from the soloists, but also a conductor with immaculate style, taste and scenic mentality. And Vladimir Spivakov is invariably such a proponent.
The soloists of the night will be world opera star, Peoples’ Artist of Russia Hibla Gerzmava and her younger colleague, awardee of several international competitions, Oneghin prize holder Polina Sharovarova. They both share the opera stage not only in the largest meaning of the word, but also at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater. But if Hibla Gerzmava has been an artistic and beloved partner of Vladimir Spovakov for many years, for Polina Sharovarova the performance with the maestro’s collective will be a significant debut. In 2025 Polina won the Grand Prix at the Hibla Gerzmava International Competition and several other special awards including a position in the Mariinsky Theater and an invitation to perform with Vladimir Spivakov and the NPR.
Popular arias and duets will be mingled with opera overtures and orchestral pieces so that the concert will be not merely a collection of heats but a carefully conceived artistic canvas where all the parts are combined into a unique appealing musical action.
