Anastasia Batrakova was born in 1991 in Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan). She graduated from the Gnessins Music School (Gennady Shamin’s class), then the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and assistantship-internship there (Professor Valery Popov’s Class). She polished her playing in international summer music schools, took part in masterclasses of famous professors such as Dag Jensen, Klaus Thunemann, Matthias Ratz, Carlo Colombo, Stefano Canuti, Giorgio Versigli, Frank Forst, Joseph Auer, Magnus Nilsson.
She is a prizewinner of several international competitions in Moscow and other Russian cities, as well as the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition in London (2016) and a competition of the International Summer Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (ISA), where she was awarded a special prize for the best performance of a concerto by Ignaz Pleyel (2013).
In 2012-2017, she was a soloist of the orchestra of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theater. Then, for two years, she played solo parts in the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra. Since 2019, she is deputy concertmaster of the bassoon group in the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia; currently concertmaster.
She also works with the Norwegian Arktisk Sinfonietta ensemble of modern music and the Indian Symphony Orchestra in Mumbai.
As a soloist, she has given over 50 concerts with leading Russian and foreign orchestras in prestigious venues (the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Mariinsky Concert Hall, the Musiikkitalo in Helsinki, the Mustpeade Maja in Tallinn, and the Casino Bern in Switzerland, among others) and collaborated with renowned conductors and soloists, including Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Jurowski, Alexei Utkin, Valentin Uryupin, Iestyn Davies, Lawrence Cummings, André Casale, Dmitry Sinkovsky, Vladislav Lavrik, Andrei Rubtsov, Denis Shapovalov, and Pavel Smelkov.
She has performed in Russian premieres of works by Giya Kancheli and Kirk O'Riordan. She has given master classes for young performers in Russia, Armenia, Switzerland, and Montenegro.
In 2023, she released a music video featuring Vivaldi's aria "Vedro con mio diletto" from the opera "Gustino," arranged for bassoon and ancient instrument ensemble; she is currently preparing a recording (single) for release. She is also honing her skills on authentic Baroque and Classical bassoons.
