Andrey Mikhailovsky was born in 1983 in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) into a family of musicians. He graduated from the Special Music School at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory (classes of Associate Professor Nikolay Kiryukhin). In 1998 he won the Third Prize at the E.A. Mravinsky International Youth Contest, in 2003 — the Grand Prix of the International Competition of Woodwinds in St. Petersburg. As part of the quintet, he became a laureate of the E. A. Mravinsky and L. van Beethoven competitions.
He worked in Opera and Ballet Theatre of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, in the Orchestra of the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg. Currently he is the leader of the clarinet section of National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia.
He has performed extensively as a soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras, including the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the Moscow Virtuosi, the Volgograd Academic Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Academic Capella, and the Gradsky Hall Chamber Orchestra.
He has participated in the Vladimir Spivakov International Music Festival in Colmar (France), the "Vladimir Spivakov Invites...," "Voronezh Camerata," and "Musical Offerings" festivals in Novgorod, the Moscow Wind Ensemble Festival "Summer Winds," and others.
He has performed in chamber ensembles with renowned musicians, including Vladimir Spivakov, Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, Vadym Kholodenko, Haik Kazazian, Alexander Knyazev, Vadim Rudenko, Philipp Rudenko, Jakob Katsnelson, Kirill Soldatov, and Stanislav Davydov. Collaborates with the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the State String Quartet named after M. I. Glinka.
