Maria Mikhailovskaya was born in 1987 in Moscow in a family of musicians — artists of The Bolshoi Orchestra. She was taught in the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory and then continued her education in Spain and Germany. Among her mentors, there were Alexander Fedorchenko, Galina Zubareva, Dmitry Miller, Klaus Heitz (cello), Tigran Alikhanov, Arie Vardi (chamber ensemble). She took part in masterclasses of Boris Pergamenshchikov, Ivan Monigetti, Alvaro Campos, Jose Maria Redondo and others.
She has performed in chamber ensembles with well-known musicians such as Haik Kazazyan, Vadym Kholodenko, Vladimir Sverdlov-Ashkenazy, Kirill Soldatov, Andrei Mikhailovsky, Alexander Bobrovsky, Valentina Lisitsa, Alexander Klyuchko, Elena Revich, Dmitry Prokofiev, Pavel Nersessian, the Karel Szymanowski Quartet. With other ensembles, she toured in Europe, the USA, Japan and China. Many a time she has participated in programs of the European Candlelight project.
For many years, she had co-worked with the M.I. Glinka State String Quartet and in 2024 became its artist.
She played with the Bolshoi Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Lazarev. As a deputy concertmaster of the cello section, she performed in the Spain Youth National Orchestra and the International Youth Symphony Orchestra directed by Joel Spiegelman.
Since 2003 — an artist of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, since 2022 she participates in concerts of the NPR Cello Ensemble.
