Maximilian Katenin was born in 2002 to a family of musicians. He started his professional education in 2009 at the Central Music School followed by studying at the Gnessins Moscow Special Music School (Stanislav Katenin's classes).
In 2019 he externally graduated from the Academic Music College at the P.I.Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and then in 2024 from the Conservatory itself (Valery Popov's classes) cum laude as the best graduate of the year. He was a scholarship holder of the Vladimir Spivakov Charity Foundation.
In 2010, he performed in Milano with La Scala ensemble of soloists.
In 2022-2023, he was a member of the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra while since 2023 he has been an artist of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia.
He us a laureate of the All-Russia competition of orchestral musicians (First Prize in 2024) and the 16th edition of the Moscow Conservatory International Competition (First Prize in 2025).
