Sergei Vasilyev was born in 1973 in Moscow. In 1993, he graduated cum laude from the Academic Music College at the Moscow Conservatory (Anatoly Kurashov’s classes) and in 1998 from the P.I.Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (Valentin Snegirev’s classes).
Since 1995, he had worked in the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra directed by Pavel Kogan, the Moscow Chamber Music Theater under the direction of Boris Pokrovsky (at present the B.A. Pokrovsky Chamber Stage at the The Bolshoi). He co-worked with the Russian State Orchestra conducted by Evgeny Svetlanov, the P.I.Tchaikovsky Great Symphony Orchestra (under Vladimir Fedoseyev), the Russian State Cinematography Orchestra conducted by Sergei Skripka, the Moscow Philharmonia Academic Symphony Orchestra and some other collectives.
Since 2003 — an artist of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia.
