Sergei Korobov was born in Chelyabinsk. In 1988, he began to study music at the special music school at the Lomonosov Music College in Chelyabinsk. In 1998, he graduated with honours from the special music school and entered the 1st year of the Chelyabinsk Higher Music School named after P.I. Tchaikovsky. In 2001, he moved from the 3rd year of the ChNMU to the 4th year of the District College of Arts and Culture in Khanty-Mansiysk. In 2002, he graduated from college and entered the Gnessins Russian Academy of Music. In 2007, he graduated with honours from Academy.
During his studies at the Academy he became a laureate of the All-Russian competition.
In 1999, he was hired by the Chelyabinsk State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. He subsequently has worked in Russian Philharmonic Orchestra of Moscow, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Pavel Kogan, the Chamber Musical Theatre of Opera named after B.A. Pokrovsky. From 2008 to 2017 he worked as a soloist with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic Society.
Since 2017, he has been working with the State Chamber Orchestra «Moscow Virtuosi» and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia.
