DG has released a new album of Daniel Lozakovich and NPR

Today, on the 18th of October, the largest record company Deutsche Grammohpon has released the long-awaited album of Daniel Lozakovich, the rising violin star who already won several prestigious competitions in Europe and the USA, and took the First Prize at the Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition in Ufa.
The None But The Lonely Heart CD, which features works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Concerto for violin and orchestra and a number of miniatures, including the Lensky Aria transcription, Valse-Scherzo and Meditation from the Souvenir d'un lieu cher / Memory of a dear place cycle), was recorded this spring with the participation of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia directed by Vladimir Spivakov (the orchestral tracks were recorded at the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International Performing Arts Center).

The NPR is starting new recording sessions

On June 17, 2017, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia started a recording session of famous concert masterpieces to be released under the “Spivakov Sound” label. During eight days to follow there will be recorded works of Tchaikovsky (Piano Concerto No. 1), Rachmaninoff (Piano Concerto No. 2, Symphony No. 2), Prokofiev (Piano Concerto No. 3), Wieniawski (Violin Concerto No. 2), Bruch (Violin Concerto No. 1), Saint-Saëns (Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso) and Sarasate (Gypsy Airs), conducted by Vladimir Spivakov. Soloists – Alexander Malofeev (piano) and Clara-Jumi Kang (violin).

In accordance with the established tradition the recording will be done with the participation of German sound engineer and producer Philipp Nedel, a Grammy and ECHO award winner, a constant partner of such recorded music companies as Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Sony Music and Onyx. In 2015-2017 Nedel and his company b-sharp took part in the NPR's release under Sony Music's  label of an album of Edvard Grieg's music “A Wounded Heart” (it can be heard in the “Audio Section), as well as in the recordings of Taneyev's “John of Damascus” Cantata (see “Sacred Russia”), Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony and “Eugene Onegin” and other music.

Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia are glad to present the release of the first disc from the series of albums of Russian music recorded on the eve of the 15th anniversary of the Orchestra. All recordings have been made at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center in 2015-2016 and will be released under Maestro Spivakov's own label Spivakov Sound. German sound engineer and producer Philipp Nedel and his b-sharp studio participate commonly in the recording making. The recently released album entitled "Holy Russia" includes works by Sergei Rachmaninoff ("We praise Thee" from the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, "The Bells" Poem on the text by Edgar Poe in the Russian translation of Konstantin Balmont) and Sergei Taneev (Cantata "St. John of Damascus" on the verses by Alexey K. Tolstoy), sung by Hibla Gerzmava (soprano), Dmitry Korchak (tenor), Vasily Ladyuk (baritone), the Academic Grand Choir "Masters of Choral Singing" (Artistic Director - Lev Kontorovich) and the Choir of the V. Popov Academy of Choral Arts (Chief Conductor - Alexei Petrov). Conductor - Vladimir Spivakov. The contents of the disc can be found in the "Audio" Section (see the "Multimedia" Menu) on our website. In addition, Vladimir Spivakov will present the same program "live" at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory on April 24, 2018, as part of the "Musical Peaks" Subscription Series No.59 of the Moscow Philharmonic Society. During four days to follow there will be recorded the composer's Fourth Piano Concerto (soloist – Alexander Romanovsky) and “Symphonic Dances”, both conducted by Vladimir Spivakov. In accordance with the established tradition the recording is done with the participation of German sound engineer and producer Philipp Nedel, a Grammy and ECHO Award winner, a constant partner of such recorded music companies as Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Sony Music and Onyx. In the Audio Section (see Multimedia Tab) on our site some updates have been made: new uploads of tracks from the double album with the works by Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) recorded in the Studio of the Moscow International Performing Arts Center in 2012. The album features such works as "Stabat Mater", "A Song of Ascents" Symphony and "Christmas Oratorio". The performers include Hibla Gerzmava (soprano), Nikolay Didenko (bass), Protodeacon Viktor Shilovsky (baritone), the Choir of the Popov Academy of Choral Art, the Boys's Choir of the Moscow Sveshnikov Choral College and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia. Symphony “On the Threshold of a Bright World” on CD of the NPR

Vyacheslav Artyomov is considered by many to be Russia’s greatest living composer. After the fall of the Soviet regime his music has travelled the world to great acclaim. It is deep, ultimately spiritual and brilliantly crafted, with influences from the Russian symphonic tradition colored by Mahler, Honegger and Messiaen to name a few but melded into a unique voice. Symphony "On the Threshold of a Bright World" is the second of his gigantic symphonic tetralogy “Symphony of the Way” commissioned by Mstislav Rostropovich to whose memory the disc is dedicated. The symphony is accompanied by another major work, Ave Atque Vale for percussion and orchestra, and the much more traditional Ave, Crux Alba a setting of the Hymn of the Knights of Malta. The conductor, Ashkenazy, needs no introduction, being one of the most lauded and accomplished figures in music today. Overall, this is a disc of high importance in the symphonic repertoire (world premiere recordings). The NPR’s new recordings – “Magic in Music”

On our site you can hear now (page Audio in the "Multimedia" Menu) the NPR's new recordings, all parts of the new album titled "Magic in Music" conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, which include "The Enchanted Lake" by Anatoly Lyadov, "Lieutenant Kije" by Sergei Prokofiev, "Le baiser de la fée" by Igor Stravinsky and "Night on Bald Mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky. The CD was recorded in 2015 at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center and released under the "Spivakov Sound" label.

Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin will be recorded by Vladimir Spivakov and the NPR

On June 16, 2016, Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia start recording the opera "Eugene Onegin" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It will be recorded in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International Performing Arts Center during 10 days. World famous singers, leading soloists of the best Russian and European theatres are invited to perform the main roles: Hibla Gerzmava (Tatiana), Vasily Ladyuk (Onegin), Dmitry Korchak (Lensky), Julia Mazurova (Olga), Ekaterina Morozova (Larina), Nikolai Didenko (Gremin), Valery Gilmanov (Zaretsky, Company Commander) etc. The Academic Grand Choir "Masters of Choral Singing" under the direction of People's Artist of Russia Lev Kontorovich are also taking part in the recording. One of the key figures in this series of recordings will be well-known German sound engineer and producer Philipp Nedel, a winner of the Grammy and the ECHO Awards, and a permanent partner of Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Sony Music and Onyx. Nedel is known for his successful long-term cooperation with the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; he has repeatedly worked with Denis Matsuev. The NPR's previous recordings – the Edvard Grieg Album "A Wounded Heart" for Sony Music and album with masterpieces by Stravinsky, Taneyev and Tchaikovsky – were made with the participation of Nedel and his “b-sharp” studio.
