On April 1, the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow Performing Arts Center will host the gala concert of the winners of the sixth edition of the Vladimir Krainev Piano Competition. The auditions started on March 25 and will end with the awarding ceremony and will traditionally end with the awarding ceremony and a concert of the winners on April 1, Vladimir Krainev's birthday. The young pianists will perform accompanied by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia under the baton of Vladimir Spivakov and Ivan Nikiforchin.
The winners of the Discovery Prize (the youngest group) are Olga Azanova (Russia) and Zheheng Lu (China), the Achievement Prize (the middle group) has been given to Maria Varakina (Russia). And the highest award (Grand Prix) in the senior group has been won by Vladimir Vishnevsky (Russia) and Arseny Lanin (Russia).
The Vladimir Krainev Moscow Competition, initiated in 2015 by Vladimir Spivakov and Tatyana Tarasova (the pianist's widow) and founded by the Moscow Department of Culture, is held once in two years at the Moscow Performing Arts Center. It has earned the reputation of one of the most respected artistic tournaments and discovered the names of talented young performers from various countries to a wide audience. Among them, there are Daniil Kharitonov, Alexander Malofeev, Alexandra Dovgan, Shio Okui, Timofei Vladimirov, Shao Ziyu, Eva Garet, Kirill Rogovoy, Elisey Mysin, Valentin Malinin and many others. Nowadays they are performing in the best Russian and world halls.
For the 6th edition there were received about 170 applications from which 75 competitors were chosen based on video recordings. They represented China, South Korea, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia. The direct auditions of the competitors from all three age groups were open for music lovers. The Jury has been presided as usual by the world-known pianist, member of the Bologna Philharmonia Academy, winner of many international contests Alexander Romanovsky.
