Vladimir Spivakov honors Shostakovich's anniversary with a new release

September 25 marks the 120th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich’s birthday. On this day all leading streaming platforms will deliver the new album by Vladimir Spivakov and the NPR which completes the trilogy of recordings of  the music by the great Russian composer, specially issued on this date.

Following the Suite for Variety Orchestra recorded a year ago and the From Jewish Poetry vocal cycle released on January, the maestro will present his interpretation of the Violin Concerto (as the soloist) and the Ninth Symphony (as the conductor).

The Violin Concerto was recorded by Vladimir Spivakov in 2002 with the Gürzenich-Orchestra under the baton of James Conlon in the Cologne Philharmonie. The studio recording of the Ninth Symphony took place in 2024 at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center under the guidance of the famous Russian sound engineer Pavel Lavrenkov.
