2020/21 Season Subscription Series

The Moscow Philharmonic Society and the Moscow International Performing Arts Center have started the sales of subscription tickets for the 2020/21 season. The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia offers as usual its own subscription series at its “home” venue, the Svetlanov Hall of the MIPAC, and at the main Philharmonic stage, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. In addition, the NPR will take part in several assembled MGAF subscriptions, shown in the list below.

Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia dedicated their Beethoven Subscription Series at the Moscow Performing Arts Centre to the composer whose 250th birthday is widely celebrated worldwide in 2020. Albeit, the attention of the musicians to Ludwig van Beethoven is not caused merely by the anniversary date - works by the Viennese classic have always been a staple part of the NPR's repertoire. Although Beethoven is one of the most performed composers in history, the depletion of his legacy is but a myth, and today artists still do not cease attempts to rethink the manuscripts of  the genius.

Vladimir Spivakov and the NPR Have Performed at the World Holocaust Forum

The Fifth World Holocaust Forum, held in Jerusalem on January 23, 2020, turned out to be one of the largest events in the history of Israel with the participation of foreign leaders. The Forum, marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp by Soviet troops on January 27, 1945, and titled “Remembering the Holocaust: Fighting Antisemitism”, was initiated by the President of the European Jewish Congress Moshe (Vyacheslav) Kantor with the support of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and Israeli President Reuven Rivlin. Mr. Rivlin acted as the official host. The event was attended by more than 60 delegations from around the world, including 45 royalty, many state and government heads (also President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who made a speech).

The Forum was joined by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, which incorporated musicians from France, Germany, Poland, Israel and the USA, as well as by a combined choir of singers from Russia (“Masters of Choral Singing”), France, the UK (Covent Garden Choir ) and the USA (Young People’s Chorus of New York City). Vladimir Spivakov conducted the “international capella”, which became “the symbol of peace and harmony, we are striving for”. Under the baton of the maestro, the works by Isaac Schwartz, Viktor Ullmann, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Karl Jenkins and Camille Saint-Saëns were performed.

Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will join  the world opera star Hibla Gerzmava, a People's Artist of Russia, in her anniversary gala-concert. The renowned singer's artistic  partnership with the maestro and his collective goes back to many years ago: they have realized  a lot of memorable joint projects in Russia and abroad, made a number of records, also for major labels. “I am proud of  my friendship with Vladimir Spivakov. Every meeting with him brings happiness. I am grateful to fate for being able to perform with him on the same stage and sing for him,” - says the singer.

The NPR and World Opera Stars at the Zaryadye Concert Hall

The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will give its first concert in 2020 at the Moscow Zaryadye Concert Hall. Asmik Grigoryan (soprano) and Migran Agadzhanian (tenor), world opera stars, will appear on the stage with the collective which will be conducted by Gintaras Rinkevičius, the NPR's long-time artistic partner. The program of the night will feature fragments from well-known operas by Dvořák, Bellini, Verdi, Mascagni and Puccini, as well as orchestral miniatures by Lyadov and Massenet.
