NPR began its first tour in China

On the 29th of September the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia began its first tour in the People's Republic of China. Vladimir Spivakov's Orchestra will give five concerts in Beijing (the National Centre for the Performing Arts), Shanghai (the Oriental Art Centre), Xindao and Wuxi. The main programme includes works of Russisn classics, such as Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto and Fifth Symphony and Rachmaninoff's "Symphonic Dances". Alexander Malofeev, a 15-years-old pianist, the winner of several contests (the First International Grand Piano Competition in Moscow, the Astana Piano Passion in Kazakhstan, the 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow, the 9th International Rachmaninoff Competition for Young Pianists in Novgorod and others) has been invited as the soloist. Since 2016 Alexander has joined the group of artistic partners of Maestro Spivakov and the NPR and has taken part in several Moscow and regional performances of the Orchestra. On September 30, Vladimir Spivakov will give the podium to his famous Chinese colleague Li Biao. This world-known conductor started his musical career as a renowned percussionist (pupil of Professor Valentin Snegirev at the Moscow Conservatory) and then went on to conducting in 2011. Since that time he has got a wide international recognition and is at present the Principal Guest Conductor of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and the Musical Director and Principal Conductor of the China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater Orchestra. He is the professor at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing from 2003 and Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin from 2006. Under the baton of the Chinese Maestro the audience will hear Glinka's Overture to "Ruslan and Ludmila" as well as Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto with Alexander Malofeev as the soloist and Dvořák's Ninth Symphony ("From the New World").

Das Festival der schönen Töne: Colmar schwelgt im Geigenklang

Colmar. Er gilt als der Geiger, an dem sich alle messen müssen. Auch die nachfolgenden Generationen. Jascha Heifetz, vor 115 Jahren in Wilna geboren und 1987 in Los Angeles gestorben, ist der Fixstern am Himmel der Violinisten. Der Musiker, dessen charakteristische Tonfärbung für immer in Erinnerung bleibt. Das 28. Internationale Musikfestival Colmar hat die Geigen-Legende ins Zentrum des Programms gerückt – eine naheliegende Entscheidung, ist doch Festivalchef Vladimir Spivakov selbst ein begnadeter Geiger. Zwar ist er in den vergangenen Jahren meist am Pult seines Russischen Philharmonischen Orchesters zu erleben, doch für dieses ihm wichtige Festivalprogramm, das mit knapp 20 Geigerinnen und Geigern immer wieder Heifetz-Interpretationen bekannter Werke präsentiert, greift er auch selbst zum Instrument. Soloists of the NPR invite to take part in the Creative Summer School

Soloists of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia Stanislav Katenin (bassoon) and Ivan Maloshtanov (trumpet) invite all musicians who may be interested to take part in the First International  Creative Summer School of the Central Music School (CMS) at the Moscow Conservatoire. The Summer School will be held from the 1st to the 10th of August 2016 and will have an intensive programme of individual lessons in "instrumental arts" (piano and orchestral instruments). The teachers of the Summer School will be those from the CMS, professors of the Moscow Conservatoire and top players. Each member of the Summer School will have the opportunity of individual training, attendance at master-classes and participation in concerts and competitions in the CMS halls. In conclusion each participant will receive an official certifying document. Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin will be recorded by Vladimir Spivakov and the NPR

On June 16, 2016, Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia start recording the opera "Eugene Onegin" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It will be recorded in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International Performing Arts Center during 10 days. World famous singers, leading soloists of the best Russian and European theatres are invited to perform the main roles: Hibla Gerzmava (Tatiana), Vasily Ladyuk (Onegin), Dmitry Korchak (Lensky), Julia Mazurova (Olga), Ekaterina Morozova (Larina), Nikolai Didenko (Gremin), Valery Gilmanov (Zaretsky, Company Commander) etc. The Academic Grand Choir "Masters of Choral Singing" under the direction of People's Artist of Russia Lev Kontorovich are also taking part in the recording. One of the key figures in this series of recordings will be well-known German sound engineer and producer Philipp Nedel, a winner of the Grammy and the ECHO Awards, and a permanent partner of Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Sony Music and Onyx. Nedel is known for his successful long-term cooperation with the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; he has repeatedly worked with Denis Matsuev. The NPR's previous recordings – the Edvard Grieg Album "A Wounded Heart" for Sony Music and album with masterpieces by Stravinsky, Taneyev and Tchaikovsky – were made with the participation of Nedel and his “b-sharp” studio.
