Vasily Andreev was born in 1979 in Moscow. He was educated in the Gnessins Music School (Natalia Zavarzina's cello class and then in Andrey Stepin's double bass class). He graduated from the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory (professor Lev Rakov's class). In his student years, he was a member of the Philharmonia of the Nations directed by Justus Frantz. Being a student of the fifth year of the Conservatory, he was appointed the concertmaster of the double bass group in the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonia where he had worked for 19 years.
He got a diploma and a special prize at the first J.M. Sperger International Bass Competition in Germany (2003).
He worked as a guest concertmaster of the bass group in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Digital Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Caspian Countries, took part as an invited musician in concerts and tours of the Russian National Orchestra, the Svetlanov State Orchestra of Russia, the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the Russian Philharmonia Moscow Orchestra.
Since 2019 he has been the first concertmaster of the bass group of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, He is also the concertmaster of the bass group of the Moscow Musical Theater.
In chamber programs, he has performed with Denis Matsuev, Ekaterina Mechetina, Alexander Ramm, Boris Andrianov, Hayk Kazazian, Graf Murzha, the David Oistrakh Quartet.
He has also given master classes in Russia, South Korea, USA, and Uzbekistan. He is teaching at the Orchestral Academy of the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, is a jury member of the All-Russian Competition of symphony orchestra artists and Worldvision.
