On December 5, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will take part in the new well-liked venture of the Moscow Philharmonic Society “Mom, I am a music fan”, addressed to neophytes. Within the project, an hour before the subway closes, top Russian orchestras and renowned soloists play popular classic works, chosen by audience voting, at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. Each concert is preceded by an instructional lecture, musicologists and music critics compose incidental e-booklets, while experienced music professionals and media persons act as masters of ceremonies. As the venture motto claims, “Mom, I'm a music fan” is a short and exciting path to classical music.

It was with this subscription series that in 2018 the members of the NPR's newly recruited conductor trainee group began their joint concert activities: the first concert of young conductors took place on May 26, 2018, and the first among them was just Arsenty Tkachenko, now the permanent conductor of the orchestra. Under his baton the overture to Rossini's opera La gazza ladra was performed. On December 5, 2020, Arsenty Tkachenko will again appear on the NPR's podium in the “Mom, I am a music fan” series, while this time Rossini's famous overture will complete the night's program.

The concert will be preceded by an on-line introduction lecture by musicologist Natalia Surnina. The host of the concert will be Artyom Vargaftik.
