On May 15, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will complete its afternoon Philharmonic subscription series addressed to a wider audience. The series' programs feature masterpieces of the world music treasury, which combined together form a dazzling kaleidoscope of orchestral miniatures played in a one-part concert. The conclusive program will present overtures and orchestral excerpts from much beloved operas by Mozart, Rossini, Wagner, Glinka, Mussorgsky, Donizetti, Prokofiev and other composers (see detailed programme below) as well as virtuoso concert pieces on opera themes which give an opportunity to the NPR's soloists to manifest their mastery.

The young conductors, who will direct the symphonic hits, are all award-winners and working in major orchestras and opera houses. They are Dmitry Matvienko (conductor at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus), Anna Rakitina (assistant conductor at the Boston Symphony), Alexander Humala (chief conductor and artistic director of Belarusian State Capella Sonorus) and Anton Torbeev (conductor at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater).
