The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia is going on with the “Images” concert cycle dedicated to outstanding Russian conductor Evgeny Svetlanov. Vladimir Spivakov and his collective got inspired by Svetlanov's series of the same title played by the State Orchestra in Moscow in the 1992/1993 season. One of the concerts of the cycle “A Corner in France” featured works by Debussy, Ravel, Fauré, Chausson and Dukas. Vladimir Spivakov has compiled the program according to his own taste, also including some of the composers mentioned above.

Spivakov is connected to France by close personal and artistic ties, such as being the Artistic Director of the music festival in Alsace for over thirty years. The maestro is well known as a fine connoisseur of French culture, and he will once again please the audience with his exquisite interpretations of renowned gems by French composers: Bizet (fragments of the Carmen opera in Shchedrin's famous transcription), Fauré (Pavane referred to the ancient slow solemn court dance), Ibert (the Paris symphonic suite, a witty musical tour in the French capital city) and Ravel (the legendary Bolero).
