In 2015 the Vladimir Krainev International Piano Competition was transferred to Moscow owing to the initiative of Vladimir Spivakov and Vladimir Krainev's widow Tatyana Tarasova. Since that time it is being held regularly at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center, while the brightest participants can perform with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia.

The 5th edition of the Vladimir Krainev International Piano Competition in 2023 has received nearly 150 applications from pianists in the age of 8 to 22 years from Russia, China, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Romania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Moldova.

Twelve competitors have reached the Final round: Robert Kuklin, Zheheng Lu (China), Elvira Veneva, Deni Kokhanvsky (Junior Category), Khayul Choi (Republic of Korea), Kirill Rogovoy, Ivan Chepkin, Karina Ter-Gazaryan (Middle Category), Bekzat Rakymov (Kazakhstan), Mikhail Kan, Mikhail Uglov and Vitaly Khayrutdinov (Senior Category).

The winners will be announced on March 30, and in the evening of the same day they will perform in the Svetlanov Hall of the MIPAC in the traditional gala concert with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia under the baton of Ivan Nikiforchin.

Vladimir Spivakov: 'This competition is not merely a tribute to the eminent musician Vladimir Krainev, but an opportunity for young talented pianists to display their best gifts, to acquire a priceless scenic experience. To my pleasure the winners will have the chance to perform with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia. This event is a kind of prolongation of Vladimir Krainev's earth life. The life of a great artist is as boundless as music itself.'
