One of the most renowned pianists of our time, the winner of the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition, Denis Matsuev is loved worldwide for his phenomenal virtuosity and sparkling temperament. The Artist's tour schedule has been filled full for several years to come, while his concert posters invariably feature the best orchestras and the most eminent conductors. Denis Matsuev is Vladimir Spivakov's permanent creative partner, and the projects of both musicians cannot do without each other.
The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia and Vladimir Spivakov often take part in Denis Matsuev's personal Philharmonic Series. In the first part of the concert (December, 27) the pianist will appear as the soloist in Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto which revealed the composer as the master of beautiful deep lyricism combined with grotesque and sharp phrases, with all the abundance of musical ideas. The second part of the program will present Rachmaninov's "Symphonic Dances", the composer's last major work created far from his motherland and associated with a profound comprehension of the main problems of human existence.
The name of Denis Matsuev is associated with many important events in the contemporary musical life of Russia.
