On September 17, Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will give an open air concert on the main stage of the Gorky Park in Moscow within the frames of the “Gorky in the Gorky Park” Festival sponsored by the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow. The artistic director of the Festival is Evgeny Mironov, a People's Artist of Russia.
It will be the first edition of the three days art festival in the Gorky Park and it will be dedicated to Russian writer Maxim Gorky whose 130th Anniversary is remembered in 2022. “Maxim Gorky was a brilliant author and amazing personality, who had visited many countries, was a vegetarian, adored chess playing, knew well flowers and shared his favorite kinds with Betty Glan, the director of the Central Park of Culture and Leisure (1930-1937) which later was called after his name.” The Festival's aim is to get widely known various aspects of Gorky's charisma.
The Festival will include over 70 events of various formats - concerts, theater performances and shows, films based on Gorky's works, tours and many other things. The concert by Vladimir Spivakov and the NPR is titled “Gorky in Italy” and features famous opera overtures and airs as well as popular songs by Italian composers. The soloist in the concert will be Russian opera star Anna Aglatova, the Bolshoi's artist.
