Rachmaninoff. "Symphonic Dances", Op. 45
Vladimir Spivakov is dedicating the NPR's coming concert to the art of his most loved author – Sergei Rachmaninoff whose music is regularly played and recorded by the orchestra and the maestro. It is worth noting that to the composer's 150th anniversary there was issued the Best of Rachmaninoff trilogy that is available to one and all on popular streaming services.
The program of the concert on October 7 includes the Symphonic Dances and the Third Piano Concerto with young virtuoso Ivan Bessonov as the soloist.
A “Russian wonder”, “incredible musical talent”, “young pianist-philosopher” – these and many other praises have been used by music critics in reaction to his playing, In his turn Denis Matsuev said: “Ivan – is an endowed musician whose touch and interpretation call immediate attention”. Valery Gergiev hopes that Ivan will become “not only a famous and successful performer but also one of the most interesting, enticing, profound and fine pianists of his generation”.
Vladimir Spivakov, who noticed the young musician at the very beginning of his artistic career, has brought him into the ring of his permanent artistic partners. A month before his 16th birthday (in June, 2018), Ivan Bessonov debuted with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia taking part in the Perm edition of the “Vladimir Spivakov Invites...” Festival, and two months later became a world star winning in style the Eurovision Competition in Edinburgh.
As for today, his credentials include wins not only in youth contests (such as the F.Chopin and the A.Rubinstein Competitions in Saint Petersburg, “The Blue Bird”, Astana Piano Passion, Grand Piano Competition, “Constellation” and others) but also the First Prize and Gold Medal at the first edition of the S.V. Rachmaninoff International Competition for pianists, composers and conductors, the BraVo International Music Award in the “Discovery of the Year” nomination (2019) and the Victoria Russian National Music Award (2021).
The young pianist has played with the NPR not only in Perm and Moscow but also in Saint Petersburg, Murmansk, Omsk, Ufa, Orenburg, Tyumen and other cities in Russia as well as in Germany, Italy, Spain and Uzbekistan.
