This October, Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will give several concerts in Podmoskovye towns – Ramenskoye (24.10), Krasnogorsk (26.10) and Sergiev Posad (27.10). The program (see Events) includes only masterworks by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. There will be performed excerpts from his ballets, the Nocturne for cello and orchestra (the author's orchestral arrangement of his piano piece from Op.19), the Polonaise from the opera “Eugene Onegin” and the Variations on a Rococo Theme for cello and orchestra – a virtuoso piece which is the obligatory part of the final audition at the Tchaikovsky International Competition.
The concerts will feature young cellist Polina Tkhai, the student of the Moscow Central Music Secondary School – Academy of Performing Arts, award winner of the Nutcracker Television Competition for young talents and other All-Russia and international contests (including the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Saint-Petersburg), winner of the Young Talents of Russia All-Russia Competition (2024), grant-holder of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation and the New Names Foundation, participant of festivals of Vladimir Spivakov, Valery Gergiev, Yury Bashmet, Denis Matsuev, Vadim Repin, and the Great Hopes prize winner at the VIVACELLO International Competition under Boris Andrianov.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is one of the most loved composers for Vladimir Spivakov. He included his music into the very first concert by the NPR and it is an indelible part of the Orchestra's repertoire. Vladimir Spivakov and the orchestra have recorded many works by the great Russian classic, also for Sony (Ballet Suites and the First Piano Concerto with Nikolai Tokarev), for Deutsche Grammophon (the Violin Concerto and the Souvenir d'un lieu cher with Daniel Lozakovich as soloist), and issued under the Spivakov Sound label a full recording of the Eugene Onegin opera, main Symphonies and other orchestral opuses. These all can be heard in the Audio/CD section at our site as well as on popular streaming platforms.
