Vladimir Spivakov Invites… Festival in Omsk and Perm

As usual, Vladimir Spivakov and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia are completing the season with a tour in Russian regions. The concerts, combined into the Vladimir Spivakov Invites... Festival, will take place in Omsk (June 1-4) and Perm (June 6-10) within the All-Russia Philharmonic Seasons program of the Moscow Philharmonic Society and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture, Youth Policy and Mass Communications of the Perm Krai and the Government of the Omsk Region.

The Omsk edition of the Vladimir Spivakov Festival is taking place for the 12-th time, while that in Perm – in the 15-th time.  Perm and Omsk were just the first towns that Vladimir Spivakov chose for regional editions of his Festival that continued the original Moscow event. The current concerts will feature masterworks of the Russian and European classical music from Handel to Shostakovich (see Events).

The maestro and the NPR will share the stage with luminous soloists such as pianists Ekaterina Mechetina and Ivan Bessonov, cellist Alexander Ramm, violinist Timur Pirverdiev (the NPR's concertmaster) as well as drama actor Victor Verzhbitsky (People's Artist of Russia), guest star of the Bolshoi and the Perm Opera Igor Podoplelov (bass-baritone), and the Masters of Choral Singing Academic Grand Choir led by Lev Kontorovich.

The NPR's second conductor and deputy artistic director Arsenty Tkachenko will present an exclusive program Pushkin in Music timed to the 225th anniversary of the poet's birthday anniversary. The program will be embellished with poems by the great poet read by Vladimir Spivakov himself (as recorded).

The NPR's another exclusive project is a musical-dramatic composition Handel's Resurrection based on Stefan Zweig's novel of the same name and excerpts from the Messiah oratorio by Georg Friedrich Handel (with Victor Verzhbitsky, Igor Podoplelov and the Masters of Choral Singing.) In the world literature, Handel's Resurrection is one of the most significant novels, phenomenal in its impression and deep understanding of the psychology of creative inspiration. Stefan Zweig described precisely the composer's biographical details but interpreted the events with a great temperament and artistic bravery.
